Step 1: Remote evaluation before your trip

You share your medical photos with our team, who provide a preliminary opinion and answer your first questions. The final physical examination with your surgeon, which confirms the treatment plan, takes place at the clinic in Turkey before the procedure.

Step 2: Health and travel preparation

Once your project is confirmed, health preparation includes stopping anticoagulants or supplements about two weeks before surgery, only on medical advice, and stopping smoking at least four weeks before to support healing. We also organize the travel logistics: flights, transfers and accommodation.

Step 3: In-person consultation and surgery approval

A few days before surgery, you meet your surgeon in person for a full clinical exam to determine the ratio of fat to glandular tissue and confirm the technique. A final preoperative checkup, including blood tests and an anesthesia consultation, follows. The surgeon then reviews the procedure with you and obtains your informed consent.

Post-operative follow-up after surgery in Turkey

Follow-up after surgery is part of the care. Your Turquie Santé coordinator stays your contact at every step of recovery.

• Early check-ups: you meet your surgeon again on Day 1 and Day 3 to review your dressings, check for hematoma and make sure healing is proceeding as expected. You also receive a personalized aftercare guide.
• Compression garment: usually worn for 4 to 6 weeks (full-time during the first 15 days, then daytime only),as instructed by your surgeon. It helps control swelling and supports the tissues during healing.
• Gradual return to activities: back to work after about 5 to 7 days and light sports after about 3 to 4 weeks, depending on how you heal and your surgeon's advice.
• Remote follow-up: once you are back home, we stay in touch to answer your questions.

Risks and precautions

Like any surgical procedure, gynecomastia surgery involves risks. In a literature review of more than 1,100 patients (Holzmer et al., Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Global Open, 2020),hematoma was the most frequent complication, followed by seroma. The risk is generally higher after gland excision than after liposuction alone and increases with the volume to correct.

• Hematoma: blood collecting under the skin, which may require a return to the operating room.
• Seroma: fluid collection, sometimes needing drainage.
• Infection and delayed healing.
• Changes in nipple or areola sensation, most often temporary; areola damage (partial or total necrosis) is rare.
• Contour irregularities (a depression under the areola if too much tissue is removed, or residual tissue if too little),asymmetry, excess skin or visible scars.
• Anesthesia-related complications and, more rarely, venous thrombosis.
• Revision surgery is sometimes needed to correct an imperfect result.

Several measures help reduce these risks:

• A full medical evaluation before surgery, including a search for a hormonal or drug cause.
• Stopping smoking and medications that promote bleeding, on medical advice.
• Wearing the compression garment and following post-operative instructions.
• Seeking prompt medical advice in case of sudden swelling, increasing pain, fever or a color change of the areola.
