What is canthoplasty?
Canthoplasty in Turkey may be the appropriate type of surgery for a person whose eyelids tend to droop or whose eyelids may appear uneven. It is a specialized procedure that can only be performed by a highly qualified eye-plastic surgeon with significant experience in cosmetic procedures for the eyes.
Canthoplasty aims to improve the appearance of the eyelids, tone them and make them look younger and fresher. This should be done in order to improve the appearance in a natural way, rather than changing your appearance.
It is a reconstructive surgery used to correct drooping or drooping eyes, by tightening the muscles or ligaments supporting the outer corners of the eyelid.
Canthoplasty in Turkey essentially corrects the look of the eye. Canthopexy, on the other hand, is a less invasive surgery which is often confused with canthoplasty, but which does not correct the shape of the eye.
Canthoplasty surgery is used to correct negative or neutral canthus slants and cause sagging of the eyelids, which can be a cause of distress for the patient who does not like the appearance of his eyelids.
The procedure varies from patient to patient, but the general goal is to cut the lower tendon, and then reposition or tighten it. To access this tendon, an incision is usually made at the outer corner of the eyelid. The tendon is pulled into its new position to support the eyelid, and then is glued back using stitches. An experienced eye surgeon will take great care to make an incision in the natural crease of the eyelid, to minimize scarring after surgery.
If a patient has only slight fallout, it may be more appropriate to practice a less invasive canthopexy procedure. Both normally take between 1 and 2 hours depending on the method used and if you are going to have other treatments.
Pain, bruising and swelling are common after surgery, but should improve after 7-10 days. Try to keep your head elevated and rest as much as you can at first. Patients should avoid exercise, rubbing the eye area, or applying makeup for a week.
In some cases, people may notice a change in vision, but this should only be temporary and vision will return to normal without medical intervention.
The price of lateral canthoplasty varies from one practice to another, and sometimes even from one patient to another. The following factors will affect costs:
The surgeon may ask for fees for a lateral canthoplasty or eyelid surgery depending on his qualifications, experience and recognition in the field of eye surgery. Patients should appropriately choose a fully trained eye-plastic surgeon to perform sensitive plastic eye surgeries. The surgeon's fees should only be a secondary element to be taken into account in such procedures.
The lateral canthoplasty procedure in Turkey can be performed under general or local anesthesia with sedation. The fees charged by the anesthesiologist or a registered nurse anesthetist must be taken into account. Their fees may vary depending on their qualifications and experience. The procedure can be performed in a hospital, an approved surgical center or a private operating room. The costs and benefits of each option will be different.
Patients should consider additional expenses such as medical tests, prescription drugs and postoperative visits to the surgeon's office. These expenses may seem minor, but they can combine to form a considerable amount.
