Ovarian rejuvenation therapy with PRP in Turkey

What is ovarian PRP rejuvenation?

Ovarian rejuvenation is a procedure that helps couples who wish to have their own biological child through facilitating the natural formation of new oocytes in the ovaries. It is suitable for women who cannot be pregnant due to a number of reasons such as early menopause, old age and poor ovarian reserve.

Scientific studies illustrate that a woman’s amount of ovarian follicles decreases in number and genetic quality as she ages. According to current scientific knowledge of ovarian physiology, a woman is born with all the oocytes that will be available for conception during her reproductive life.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is an autologous platelet concentrate that is obtained by the centrifugation of the blood and it is characterized by the high concentration of growth factors. Its ability to stimulate tissue regeneration makes it the basis of numerous medical methods, including female infertility.

  • Women under age of 50 at menopause or pre-menopause
  • Women with low egg supply with low hormone levels (AntiMullerian-ΑΜΗ)

How it works ?

Why is it used in Turkey and Istanbul?

The procedure involves injecting PRP that is extracted from the patient’s blood cells. This is an innovative and recent therapy which is used effectively in various fields of medicine such as:

  • The treatment of soft tissue lesions and bone grafts.
  • Professional athletes can undergo this kind of therapy in order to speed up the healing of sports-related injuries.
  • After cardiac surgery, this treatment can be employed to help heal the incisions in the chest wall.

It is a safe therapy since it involves the patient’s own blood and the blood transmission of viruses such as hepatitis or HIV cannot occur. In addition, since there is no injection of synthetic chemicals, the possibility of an allergic reaction is extremely improbable.

How is ovarian rejuvenation therapy with PRP performed?

The process of ovarian rejuvenation requires two phases. The first stage involves obtaining white blood cells and platelets that are separated from the red blood cells and centrifugation produces a serum. This preparation takes less than one hour to inject PRP into the ovaries. The technique that we have developed for ovarian regeneration is an ultrasound-guided injection that is performed under sedation with an anaesthetic agent called Propofol.

This is the same procedure used for oocyte retrieval in the in vitro fertilization. It is a minimally invasive, safe, short-lived approach, extremely comfortable for the patient, with an extremely low rate of complications.

What are the results and how are they measured?

It is important to remember that any therapeutic effect of growth factors can take 3-6 months since any type of tissue transformation is not immediately apparent.

To monitor ovarian improvement (egg cell production), the blood dosage of the hormones such as Anti Mullerian Hormone (AMH), Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH), Luteinising Hormone LH and estradiol is performed at monthly intervals in women who do not have menstruation and during menstrual flow in menstruating women for a period of three months.

If AMH levels increase, while FSH, LH, and oestradiol levels decrease, we are looking at objective evidence of ovarian rejuvenation.

In menopausal women there may be a spontaneous return of the menstrual cycle.

Even if ovarian rejuvenation is observed, pregnancy may not necessarily occur as there may be other factors that may interfere with natural conception such as sperm problems.

What are the costs?

The initial assessment, that includes the evaluation of your medical and reproductive history , a consultation on the procedure, and its potential risks and benefits, is carried out in our clinics or hospitals in Turkey, Istanbul, Bursa, Izmir, and Antalya. Any necessary blood tests will be sent to an external laboratory. It is important to inform you that the cost of the rejuvenation procedure includes anesthesia.
