PRP Ovarian rejuvenation : Cost, reviews & best clinics in Turkey

Due to progress in regenerative medicine, which has made it possible to rapidly change the way we approach certain pathologies, it is now clearly established that platelets, a sample of blood plasma, are capable of stimulating tissue regeneration.

Recent research on ovarian rejuvenation in Turkey, suggests that intraovarian administration of PRP platelet-rich plasma can activate the ovaries by increasing the number of produced oocytes. Subsequently, this technique favors the occurrence of natural pregnancies and helps to achieve medically assisted procreation.

What is ovarian PRP?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is an autologous platelet concentrate that is obtained by centrifugation of blood. It is characterized by a high concentration of growth factors. Its ability to stimulate tissue regeneration makes it the basis of many medical methods, including the treatment of female infertility.

The procedure involves the injection of ovarian PRP, which is extracted from the patient's blood cells. This therapy is totally innovative and recent, effectively used in different fields of medicine such as reproductive medicine where ovarian PRP allows to :

  • Facilitate the adhesion of the embryo to the uterine lining (rejuvenation and thickening of the uterus)
  • Activate the ovarian stem cells
  • Ensure egg reproduction in women with premature ovarian failure or in menopause

How is ovarian rejuvenation therapy performed?

After obtaining a blood sample from the patient through normal venous sampling, blood centrifugation is performed to obtain white blood cells and platelets in serum. The resulting PRP is injected into the ovaries via a transvaginal puncture while the patient is deeply sedated, using essentially the same method of oocyte harvesting.

This procedure is performed in a day hospital. For oocyte harvesting in patients undergoing subsequent hormonal stimulation, the PRP procedure should be performed as part of the assisted reproduction program. Once the procedure is completed, patients will continue to receive medication for follicular stimulation and will monitor follicular maturation after this operation.

Are there any risks following ovarian rejuvenation?

The technique we have developed for ovarian regeneration is an ultrasound guided injection. This technique allows following the injected solution in order to ensure the greatest effectiveness of the treatment. According to doctors' opinions, this is a safe therapy, as it involves the patient's blood. Therefore, the transmission of viruses such as hepatitis or HIV cannot occur. In addition, since there is no injection of synthetic chemicals, the possibility of an allergic reaction is extremely unlikely.

In addition, this is the same procedure used for egg retrieval during in vitro fertilization. It is a minimally invasive, safe and short-lived approach. In addition, it is extremely comfortable for the patient, with an extremely low complication rate.

Results of treatment

It is important to remember that any therapeutic effect of growth factors can take 3 to 6 months to obtain optimal results. Indeed, any type of tissue transformation is not immediately apparent. First, it will be necessary to monitor ovarian improvement (production of egg cells) by analyzing blood levels of hormones such as:

  • Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH).
  • Estradiol.
  • Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH).
  • Luteinizing hormone (LH).

This is done at monthly intervals, in women who do not have menstruation. It is also performed during menstrual flow in women who have been menstruating for three months. If AMH increases, while FSH, LH, and estradiol levels decrease, we are looking for objective evidence of ovarian rejuvenation. In women with ovarian failure, there may be a spontaneous return of the menstrual cycle. Even if ovarian rejuvenation is observed, pregnancy may not necessarily occur. This is because of other factors that can interfere with a natural pregnancy, such as sperm problems.

Frequently asked questions
  • Sterile or infertile women;
  • Women with early menopause;
  • Women with low reserve of ova.

Ovarian rejuvenation allows a woman's menstrual cycle to restart. This means that the ovaries restart their function (production of ova).
However, pregnancy is only possible if there is no other problem with the patient, which may make fertilization impossible (uterine diseases for example).

Six months after the injection of the platelet-rich plasma into the ovaries.

Ovarian rejuvenation with PRP can be followed by in vitro fertilization if necessary, as soon as the menstrual cycle returns.

In Turkey, 95% of platelet-rich plasma injections for ovarian rejuvenation are successful.
